About us
Our designs are true pieces of art. Literally.
ABOUT STUDIO 16
The South is iconic for its lush foliage and slower pace of life. Our lengthy, warm seasons lend themselves to experiencing the fullness of outdoor living that this area has to offer. With the recent growth and expansion of the Nashville area, the classic front porch rocker nestled up against overflowing ferns has given way to styles and designs as diverse as the places from which we have come. At Studio 16, we envision and design outdoor spaces, collaboratively, alongside the most discerning of clients. Our Landscape Architects have experience that runs the gamut of style and preference. We uniquely blend the lost art of freehand artistic design, seamlessly, with the newest technology in virtual reality environments. This allows you to experience and walk through your finished project before the work ever begins.
ONE-STOP-SHOP
As part of a design/build collective, we are part of a multi-discipline firm that has become a one-stop-shop for clients to design and build their dream estate. We have the unique luxury of collaborating with architects, interior designers, engineers, luxury home builders, and pool contractors all in house, as needed, to make sure that EVERY aspect of the design process is attended to before installation and construction ever begins. This drastically reduces the amount of coordinated meetings needed to achieve the desired result. Whether it’s that classic, southern charm you desire, or the newest and most modern of trends, let our architects dream with you, to turn the space that you’ve imagined into the space that you call home….
OUR TEAM
MATT McLURE
Civil Engineer / Project Manager
Matt is a Professional Engineer who grew up in Chattanooga where he enjoyed all things outdoors. He went to Tennessee Technological University and graduated with a degree in Civil Engineering in 2011. Matt then moved to Nashville where he worked for 9 years doing site design for commercial and multifamily developments. Moving back to Chattanooga, briefly, Matt again used his skills to design energy corridors. Matt missed the engineering and problem-solving challenges involved with site design. He found that at Studio 16 he could put his skills to work in a creative way, blending Civil Engineering and Landscape Architecture.
KENNY LI
Designer / Project Assistant
Kenny was influenced early in life by his grandfather, a successful home builder. At a young age he became interested in architecture and the high-end residential design build process. He taught himself computer drafting skills in high school and set his sights on studying architecture in college. He attended Bowling Green State University earning degrees in Architecture, Landscape Architecture, and Green Roofs. He then went on to get his master’s In Landscape Architecture from University of Cincinnati graduating in 2022. While working on his degrees he continued to work for a Landscape architecture firm preparing him for his exit into the working world. Kenny believes that the possibilities of design are endless, and he’s always looking for new challenges. This journey left him eager to learn more and strives to eventually become a registered landscape architect.
MARK JONES
Head of Installation and Maintenance
Hailing from Nashville, Mark is a graduate of Middle Tennessee University, majoring in Business and Agriculture. Being a Middle Tennessee native, and having forty years of landscape experience has exposed him to decades of our weather patterns, different soils, and plant viability. He grew up working with his father in a family-owned hydroponic greenhouse, supplying the local food chain “H.G. Hills” with year-round fresh tomatoes. This is what led him to agriculture. He was also a “weekend cattle farmer”, which instilled a passion in him to maximize pasture use and utilization on large commercial farms.
Mark was the first landscape contractor to showcase his work in the famed Governors Club in Williamson County, Tennessee, going on to complete over 100 homes in the Subdivision. He specializes in landscape design and installation that maximizes water conservation, providing minimal upkeep and environmental impact. He was the lead of design and installation for the first Worldwide LEED Gold Certified home remodel. A benchmark of sustainability, that design included permeable pavers, 28 Geo wells, and some of the latest water-saving equipment available. Over the last forty years, he has had the pleasure of designing some of the largest, fully functional agricultural farms, maximizing their resources.
Whether it is your personal home situated in a subdivision, or a sprawling commercial farm, Mark’s experience with hydroponics, decades of commercial landscape and farming have uniquely qualified him to address the needs of Nashville’s most discerning clientele.
